Thankful ~ November 6

November Sunrise
Today I'm thankful for my bed.  Yes, my bed.  After a long long day yesterday I was really happy to crawl in bed before 9pm.  Nine hours later I feel like a new person!  I could sleep some more though.  LOL

Day Trip - the rest of the story

Driving into Julian

Looking at the historical sites

We bought apples

They were really good

In line to buy pie

The apple pie smelled absolutely delicious!

On the way home we drove through the Laguna Mountains.  JRR showed me where they used to camp (in tents!) in the mountains when he was kid and with his kids when they were little.  Then he stopped the car and offered to pick up some big beautiful pinecones for me to bring home.  I loved that!  Ice cream from the little roadside store gave us a sugar high as we headed for home.

The views are spectacular as you drive down the mountains towards the highway.

Looking east

We could see a long long way to the desert floor and beyond
When we got on the freeway it felt a bit sad as we drove back into the real world.  In El Centro we stopped to eat at Celias, the Mexican restaurant recommended by JoJo.  They're known for the Special Quesadilla and it was soooo good.  It's a deep fried homemade tortilla with melted cheese in the middle.  We could have had that and some drinks and made a meal of it.  But we ordered from the menu.  The food was good and very reasonable and the service was good too.

All in all it was a fun day!

Day Trip

It was another beautful Saturday morning a couple weeks ago and we decided to go to Julian, CA for the day.  The Julian Apple Days are a great chance to spend time in the mountains and come home with apples and apple pies.

Our journey to Julian took us away from city life, on the back roads and through the Anza Borrego Desert. It was relaxing to get away from daily life and see something new. This is some of what we saw.

Beautiful Day

I wrote this yesterday but didn't get around to posting it till today. :-/

It's a beautiful day here in Arizona and I'm stuck inside working.  ALL day! :-(  I didn't mind too much for the first couple of hours but by 5 pm I am more than ready to be done!

So I'm doing what I often do at times like this - thinking about the things I'm thankful for.  And there really are so many things to be grateful for once I start counting my blessings.
  • It's a beautiful gorgeous lovely day.
  • I'm almost done working (I think!) so I can go home soon.
  • Having a lot of work is a good thing - there have been a few times in recent months when I was wishing I was busier.
  • Today's trip to Target provided most of the daily necessities we need at home.
  • My cupboards and refrigerator are full and my gas tank too.  Both of those always make me feel so happy.
  • JRR made a most delicious meal last night - steak, baked potato, salad, french bread, ice cream for dessert.  I was especially happy to see it when I got home late late from work.
  • Prayers are being answered for Christy's brother Dean.  It looks like he may be on the road to recovery.
